Rogue7 suggested it was because the exhaust flowing through the stock pipes was suddenly hitting the very open and large Cobra 3" cans, causing a differential pressure pulse and therefore more decel popping, and with richer fuel comes more pop. Octane slows the burn and prevents micro-detonation in the cylinders, also tends to keep the cylinder head and valves cooler (all good things). I noticed with Cobra slip-ons and "stock everything else" the higher octane pops more on engine braking under load (using the engine to slow the Fury). The flash will also push the rev limiter way out, so if you need to pull out into traffic fast, you probably cant twist it far enough after reflashing to get it to cut off. basically you are advancing timing, which stretches the gear, adjusting the temp setting so fan comes on 20* earlier (extends engine life), you can lower the factory 933 idle, some go down to 600. the ECU flash can be done by Don Guhl, and will include lifetime adjustments.
